THE GREAT WAVE NEVER CAME


SYNOPSIS: A low quality digital video footage about surfers on the beach in the city of Lima. While images describe a group from the middle class enjoying a leisure moment, the sound is about a disaster. The juxtaposition creates an atmosphere of something more violent, but it never comes. The gray and gloomy city always ignores the ocean: but now it attacks Lima and the space of icy water turns in a metaphorical limbo.

SYNOPSIS: In 1977 a married couple from the middle-class traveled from Lima to Cusco for a holiday. Among the streets, ruins and vast landscapes, they recorded themselves with their own Super 8 camera film. Their relationship with the space was awkward. The near future appears in a tense way. The reconstruction of that memory is recreated in this video through the analysis of images and audio from a family archive. A bucolic trip is used to analyze the socio-political situation, between the end of the Military Dictatorship ruled by Morales Bermudez and the beginning of Shinning Path terrorist actions.

SYNOPSIS: This work depicts an isolated character who lives backwards to the city and who is not able to understand its contrast, clumsiness, enigma and peculiarity. A woman observes the kitsch neon lights at city of Lima.

SYNOPSIS: Sour times unresolved: animals, corpses without identity, insects and pieces of human body are falling. Those elements compose a little and interrupted symphony of caricature images, as metaphor about how these events have been understood in the history of Peru. A torture and assassination during the years of the armed conflict between the State and the Shining Path.
